Pune: DRDO Lab Director Kurulkar Met Women At Guest Houses, Visited Many Countries – Maharashtra ATS

Pune, 9th May 2023: The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has found evidence suggesting that Pradeep Kurulkar (59), director of DRDO lab in Pune, was in touch with Pakistani intelligence agencies through email also. The investigation was conducted by the ATS, which has seized Kurulkar’s mobile phone, laptop, and other technical materials for forensic examination.

Based on complaint from DRDO, ATS arrested Kurulkar on May 3 for offences under the Official Secrets Act. He was produced before the court today after expiry of his police custody remand. The court has extended his custody till May 15.

The ATS told the court that Kurulkar was also meeting several women at the DRDO guest house, and that this also needs to be investigated. The agency will also probe whether foreign countries deposited money into Kurulkar’s bank account.

The investigation has revealed that Kurulkar had visited five to six countries using his government passport. The ATS has stated that it needs to examine the purpose and nature of these visits.

The ATS also discovered that Kurulkar had deleted data from his mobile phone, laptop, and pen drive. The agency has told the court that it needs to investigate what the deleted data contained and whether it was passed on to Pakistani intelligence agencies.

The investigation into Kurulkar’s alleged ties with Pakistani intelligence agencies has sent shockwaves through the country.

The matter is currently under investigation, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
