Pune: E-bikes To Be Available On Rent In Pune

Pune, 21 July 2021: The proposal to run e-Bikes on rent has been approved in the general body meeting of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The proposal was pending since last year. Two e-bike suppliers will be provided 500 places along the road in the city for bike charging.

Millions of vehicles running in the city cause massive air pollution, CNG and e-buses are trying to curb it. Now e-bikes will also add to this chain. The bikes will be provided by Vitro Motors Pvt. Ltd. and Ematrix Mile. In June 2020, the City Improvement Committee approved a proposal to provide e-bikes on lease through the company, as well as provide roadside space for charging stations and bike parking at 500 different locations in the city. In July 2020, the Standing Committee approved the feedback from the administration.

While the issue was on the agenda of the December 2020 general meeting, the proposal also included Ematrix Mile, a company that has shown its readiness to supply e-bikes to the corporation. It was expected to be approved in December last year. However, the proposal was postponed. Nevertheless, it was approved at the general meeting held on 20th July.
