Pune, 23rd July 2023: The education department has taken a stand against unauthorized and bogus schools operating in the Maharashtra state. However, it has come to light that action is still pending against 378 such schools. Expressing concern over the delay in taking action, the Education Commissionerate has issued a show-cause notice to the education authorities, demanding clear indications of progress.

After conducting a campaign to verify school documents, the education department found 661 schools operating without government approval or proper documentation. Consequently, the education authorities were directed to take necessary action against these schools. While some schools have already faced penalties and criminal charges, 378 schools are yet to comply with the regulations in various districts across the state.

Education Commissioner Suraj Mandhare set a deadline for the authorities to take action against the non-compliant schools until June. However, no action was taken, leading to the issuance of a notice, warning of disciplinary and punitive measures in accordance with government rules. The authorities have been urged to provide satisfactory explanations; otherwise, the process of enforcement will be initiated.
