Pune: Fatal Accident Averted Due To Promptness Of MSEDCL Employees

Ambegaon, 28th March 2023: National Highway at Kalamb in taluka Ambegaon, the power lines of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) were hit by a container. This caused the wires to rub against each other. Due to this incident, the wires fell on the road due to a short circuit. Due to the information provided by the villagers, the employees of the MSEDCL showed promptness, and a major accident was averted and the passengers were rescued.

The heavy transport container was going towards Narayangaon. In front of Shri Krishna Temple in the Mahanubhava area, Kalamb, electric wires were hit by the container causing a loud noise and the wires fell on the road. Wires were lying near houses and cow sheds on both sides of the road.

A major accident was averted due to the immediate shutdown of the power supply. Shailendra Chikhale, Taluka President of Divyang Employees’ Association and villagers, Assistant Engineer of MSEDCL MB Mundhe was contacted and informed about the incident.

Arjun Bhalerao, Sanjay Bhalerao, Ashutosh Chikhale, Dilip Bhalerao, and Aditya Bhalerao were present on this occasion. After that, Sampat Kanade immediately inspected the spot and turned off the current. Traffic on the highway was stopped for some time. The employee removed the wires lying on the road. After that, the traffic on the road was restored.

MB Mundhe said, “Heavy containers broke power lines. The wires were dangerous because they carried electricity. As the villagers gave information immediately, it was possible to reach the spot on time and plan the remedial measures. The pillar is also cracked and will have to be replaced. MSEDCL has suffered a loss of around Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000. Repair work will be started soon.”
