Pune: Fatal Hoarding Collapse In Ravet Leads To FIR Against Owner, Maker, Renter And Advertising Company

Pimpri Chinchwad, 18th April 2023: Five people lost their lives due to the collapse of an unauthorized iron hoarding. The incident occurred during unseasonal rain and strong winds on Monday evening around 6 pm in the Ravet area.

While seeking shelter from the rain, eight individuals took refuge in a puncture shop under the hoarding along the Mumbai-Bangalore highway.

The gusty wind caused the hoarding to collapse on the puncture shop, leading to the death of four women and one man. Three people were seriously injured and are undergoing treatment in a private hospital.

The incident has resulted in a case being registered against four people, including Namdev Barku Mhasude, the owner of the premises, Datta Gulab Taras, the maker of the hoarding, Mahesh Tanaji Gade, the renter of the hoarding, and the advertising company on the hoarding. While a case has been registered, the accused have not yet been arrested by police.

Local residents have alleged that the Municipal Corporation officials did not take the matter seriously, which resulted in the loss of five lives.

The injured individuals were identified as Vishal Shivshankar Yadav, Rahmad Mohammad Ansari, and Rinky Dilip Roy. The deceased were identified as Shobha Vijay Tak, Varsha Vilas Kedari, Ramavadh Prahlad Atmaj, Bharti Nitin Manchal, and Anita Umesh Roy.

The locals had previously lodged a complaint about the unauthorized iron hoarding on the Sarathi helpline of the PCMC.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced a relief of Rs. 3 lakh to the families of the victims who lost their lives in the hoarding collapse accident.  The Chief Minister has expressed his deep condolences to the bereaved families.
