Pune: Father Arrested for Allegedly Sexually Abusing Daughter and Stepdaughter for Five Years
Yerwada, 21st March 2023: A 17-year-old girl has accused her father and stepmother of sexually abusing her for the past five years. The father has been arrested by the Yerawada police in connection with the case.
According to the police, the girl’s father prevented her from taking her Class XII examinations, which prompted her to flee to a friend’s house and disclose the abuse. The friend advised the girl to file a police complaint, which she did on Sunday. The complaint states that the father’s second wife turned a blind eye to the abuse.
Days before the board exams, the father allegedly entered the victim’s bedroom and tore up her hall ticket, berating her for studying instead of doing household chores. This incident caused great distress to the girl, who confided in her friend and disclosed the abuse. The complaint also reveals that the victim’s parents had separated when she was five years old, and her father had remarried.
The accused father has been arrested under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
