Bhavani Peth, 3rd July 2025: Despite earlier assurances and protests, residents of Ward No. 18 in Bhavani Peth are once again grappling with damaged roads and large potholes, prompting another round of agitation from the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).

A particularly dangerous pothole—approximately 15 to 20 feet long—has emerged on the narrow stretch between Church and Shitla Devi Chowk in Khadakmal Ali, causing major inconvenience to commuters and local residents.

To highlight the gravity of the issue and draw attention from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), MNS workers used a creative protest method: they drew rangoli around the pothole and placed a flower garland over it.

“Roads Were Repaired, But Have Already Collapsed”
Speaking to the media, MNS leaders Ravi Sahane and Sangram Talekar expressed frustration over the civic body’s failure to provide long-term solutions.
“Just four to five months ago, we protested at the Bhavani Peth Regional Office demanding proper repairs and asphalting of roads. The PMC assured action, but now the roads have started crumbling again,” said Talekar.

The leaders warned that if immediate repairs are not undertaken, they would escalate their protest further.
“If the potholes are not fixed soon, we will bring water collected from them directly to the Municipal Corporation office,” Sahane added.

Citizens Struggle Amid Poor Road Conditions
Residents say that driving through the area, especially during the monsoon, has become increasingly hazardous. The poor condition of newly asphalted roads has raised questions about the quality of PMC’s roadwork and contractor accountability.

Local citizens have called for urgent and lasting repairs, stating that temporary patchwork is no longer acceptable.
