Pune Gears Up For Prime Minister’s Visit With Enhanced Security Measures

Pune, 29th July 2023: Stringent security arrangements are being put in place in Pune in anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit. A contingent of Maharashtra Force One as well as Special Protection Group (SPG) responsible for the Prime Minister’s safety, will be deployed for security purposes. Additionally, five thousand police personnel will be stationed throughout the city to ensure a safe and smooth visit. A special security team has conducted a thorough review of all security measures in place.

During his visit on August 1, Prime Minister Modi will be honored with the prestigious Lokmanya Tilak Award and will inaugurate various development projects in the city. In preparation for this significant event, the Pune police and administration have meticulously planned all arrangements.

Commissioner of Police Retesh Kumaarr, Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Karnik, Additional Commissioners Praveen Kumar Patil and Ramnath Pokle, along with Deputy Commissioner of Special Branch R Raja, are spearheading the security preparations.

The security team has meticulously inspected the Helicopter Landing Place (Helipad), event venue, and the route designated for the Prime Minister’s convoy. All necessary precautions are being taken to ensure a seamless and safe visit.

On August 1, Tuesday, there will be alterations in the city’s traffic movements to accommodate the Prime Minister’s visit. Prime Minister Modi will visit the Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati Temple for darshan, and later, the Lokmanya Tilak Award will be presented during a program at the SP College ground. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Sandeep Singh Gill will be in charge of security in the central area. The program at the college will be an invite-only event, but arrangements will be made for online viewing.

Moreover, various development projects will be inaugurated at the ground of the Pune Police Headquarters in Shivajinagar, where the program will be open to all with arrangements to accommodate ten thousand attendees.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit will be confined to one day. He will land at the Pune Air Force Station in Lohegaon and subsequently proceed to the Agriculture College ground in Shivajinagar by helicopter. Afterward, he will proceed to the event venue via vehicle. To bolster security during his visit, three units of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) will be deployed alongside Force One squads. The SPG teams will be entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring the Prime Minister’s security throughout the duration of his visit.
