Pune : Government Offices and Private Companies Instructed to Enforce Helmet Rule, Notices Served To 1,777 Establishments By RTO

Pune 21st Sept 2023: The Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Pune has issued a stern directive to government offices and private companies in the city and district, instructing them not to allow entry to employees without helmets. Failure to comply will result in disciplinary actions against the respective administrations.

The RTO’s notice has been issued to a total of 1,777 establishments including both government and private across the city and district. Consequently, wearing helmets has become mandatory for all employees in these establishments. The RTO conducted a study over the past two years involving accidents in Pune city and district. The study revealed that a significant number of accidents involved two-wheeler riders and pillion riders not wearing helmets, leading to fatal outcomes. Based on these findings, the RTO has decided to enforce strict measures.

According to officials, these establishments were informed by the RTO not to allow entry to employees without helmets in the past as well but the instructions were not followed by the administratration due to which the RTO has now initiated a stringent enforcement.

The RTO officials have started taking action against the riders entering without helmets in these establishments using CCTV cameras installed at the entrance. Enforcement actions have been taken against employees who were found entering IT companies and Multinational firms without helmets, with 104 employees facing disciplinary actions. If employees are found entering these establishments without helmets, the respective establishments will be held responsible and may face legal action, said officials.
