Pune: Husband And In-Laws Booked For Collecting Woman’s Menstrual Blood For Aghori Rituals

Vishrantwadi, 10th March 2023: Pune Police have registered an offence against seven people, including the husband and in-laws of a 27-year-old woman, for alleged harassment and collecting her menstrual blood for performing “Aghori” rituals. The complaint was filed at the Vishrantwadi police station on Tuesday.

The husband and in-laws have been booked under sections 377, 354 (a), 498 (a), 504, 323 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code along with sections of the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other inhuman, evil and Aghori practices and Black Magic act. The accused persons are from Beed district in Maharashtra.

According to the complaint, the accused persons have been harassing the complainant physically and mentally since June 2019. It was alleged that during the Ganesh festival in 2022, the accused persons forcibly held the complainant’s hands and legs to collect her menstrual blood to perform an Aghori practice.

Police Sub-Inspector Shubhangi Magdum is investigating the case. Due to the alleged harassment, the woman had gone to her parents’ house in Pune and filed a complaint with the city police. The investigation is ongoing, and the police have assured that appropriate action will be taken against the accused persons.
