Pune: Khadakwasla Dam Reduces Discharge to 32,290 Cusecs After Drop in Rainfall

Pune, 21st August 2025: The discharge from Khadakwasla Dam into the Mutha river basin was reduced from 39,138 cusecs to 32,290 cusecs on Thursday morning at 10 am, officials said. The adjustment was made by the Irrigation Department following a decline in rainfall activity over the region.

Sub-Divisional Engineer Mohan Bhadane of the Mutha Canal Irrigation Sub-Division, Swargate, said the discharge may be further reduced or increased depending on rainfall and weather conditions in the coming hours. Citizens have been advised to stay alert to possible changes.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), rainfall across Pune district dropped sharply in the past 24 hours. The recorded rainfall till 9 am on Thursday was as follows:

Talegaon: 19.0 mm
Nimgiri: 16.5 mm
Lavale: 13.0 mm
Rajgurunagar: 12.0 mm
Narayangaon: 12.0 mm
Malin: 11.5 mm
Dudulgaon: 10.5 mm
Pashan: 4.5 mm
Shivajinagar: 4.0 mm
Hadapsar: 1.0 mm
Dhamdhere: 1.0 mm
Haveli: 0.5 mm
Purandar: 0.5 mm

Officials said the reduced rainfall has eased the pressure on the dam system, but water discharge levels will continue to be regulated based on inflow and weather forecasts.
