Pune: Labourer Dies After Falling From Warehouse Roof During Renovation Work, Contractor and Supervisor Booked For Negligence
Pune 5th August 2023: In a tragic incident reported in the Wagholi area, a 47-year-old labourer died after falling from a roof of a warehouse while doing renovation work. The contractor and supervisor who were responsible for the work have been booked following a complaint lodged by the deceased’s brother claiming lack of safety gears provided to the workers while doing the work.
The incident took place on July 17 at around 12:20 pm when the deceased and his associates were working at the site of a warehouse in Wagholi. The complainant has alleged that his brother and other labourers were not provided necessary safety equipment such as safety belt, helmet, net etc. for the work despite knowing that they were working at a height that could pose danger to the workers.
According to reports, an Accidental Death Report (ADR) was registered soon after the incident but after a detailed enquiry the lapses were revealed following which the contractor and supervisor were booked following an FIR registered on Friday.
A case in this regard has been registered at Loni Kand Police Station under sections 304 (a) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Further investigation in the matter is underway.
