Pune: Leopard Attacks Morning Walkers Near Serum Institute In Hadapsar

Hadapsar, 26th October 2021: A leopard reportedly attacked two morning walkers near Gosavi vasti and Gaondevi behind the Serum Institute of India in Hadapsar. The incident took place around 5.30 am today.

The incident has terrorised the local residents. After getting information, officials from the forest department and Pune police have launched a search for the leopard.

The injured person has been identified as Sambhaji Baban Atode (45). He has sustained injuries on his face and legs. He has been rushed to Sassoon Hospital. His condition is stable, said Senior Police Inspector Arvind Gokule, in-charge of Hadapsar police station.

Atode and his friend Amol Londhe were walking in Gosavi vasti when the leopard jumped on Londhe. However, he ducked and the leopard caught the leg of Atole. Both of them got frightened and shouted for help. As other morning walkers also rushed there, the leopard fled.

Atole was taken to the hospital. People informed the police and forest department who reached the spot soon and started search for the leopard.
