Pune: LPG Car Catches Fire In Old Katraj Tunnel

Katraj, 28th April 2022: Four occupants of an LPG car had a narrow escape after the car caught fire in the old Katraj tunnel on the Pune-Bengaluru highway today evening.

Fortunately, four persons in the car got out immediately and a major accident was averted. Katraj fire brigade reached the spot and extinguished the fire within half an hour.

After climbing Katraj Ghat at around 4 pm, there was a noise in the engine of the vehicle while entering the tunnel. And then a little bit of smoke started coming out. The driver stopped the car to the side, all four occupants got down and stood in a safe place. Soon the engine of the car was engulfed in flames.
The car was running on LPG.

A Fire Brigade team reached the spot with two fire tenders and controlled the fire. Tandel Ramdas Shinde, driver Ganpat Bhandare, fireman Mahadev Mangde, Pankaj Ingwale, participated in the operation as well as Ganesh Bhandare, a resident of Katraj.
