Pune: Maharashtra’s First City Library To Come Up On Ghole Road

Pune, 22 June 2021: The Standing Committee of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has approved a tender of around Rs 6.71 crore for setting up the first city library to guide the students of competitive examinations.

 

Standing Committee Chairman Hemant Rasane said, “PMC owns Maharshi Mamarao Date printing press building on Ghole Road. The building, which covers an area of about 2200 square meters, is very old and dilapidated. Therefore, a city library will be constructed in a new spacious building at this place. Corporator Jyotsna Ekbote has been following this from the very beginning.”

 

He further said, “Pune is the hub for preparation for competitive examinations in the state. Candidates studying for Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination, Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC), staff selection, banking examinations need a large number of reference materials. These materials will be available in the library. Modern technology will be used for this. Furnished classrooms will be provided to the students. One thousand students at a time can avail this facility. These students will be guided by experts and experienced teachers.”
