Kondhwa Budruk, 10th April 2025: Panic gripped residents of a housing society in Kondhwa Budruk after a man armed with an iron rod climbed onto the water tank of a four-storey building and began threatening anyone who tried to approach. The incident, which occurred on Thursday afternoon, prompted an emergency response from the fire brigade and local police.

According to residents, the man appeared to be in a disturbed state and was aggressively waving the rod at people who attempted to speak to him or get close. “He wasn’t letting anyone near. He kept shouting and swinging the rod at anyone who tried to climb up,” said one resident who witnessed the standoff.

Firefighters arrived on the scene and worked for nearly an hour to de-escalate the situation. Using calm communication and strategic positioning, they managed to persuade the man to come down voluntarily. As soon as he descended, some residents, furious over the disturbance, attempted to confront him physically, but fire brigade personnel intervened and quickly alerted the police.

The man was taken into custody and brought to Kondhwa Police Station for questioning.
