Pune, 21st May 2022: Fruit exports from rural areas like Baramati have been increasing rapidly in the last few years. Now, the mango exported from Baramati has reached the White House of US President Joe Biden.

MP Supriya Sule shared this information on her Twitter account. A box of mangoes like Hapus/Alfraedo, Kesh, Goa Mankur has been sent to the White House. It is a matter of happiness that fruits are being exported across the seas. She also thanked the exporters of mangies, Rainbow International Company.

According to the reports, the boxes of mangoes were handed over to the US White House as part of the Indian Mango Promotion Program in Washington. About 100 tonnes of mangoes have been exported to the United States alone since Covid. While exports have increased, the price of mangoes has doubled due to the high cost of shipping.

Although the price has had some effect on purchases, Rainbow Company has stated that it aims to export 250 tonnes of mangoes to the US this year.

Export has started from the center set up by State Marketing Board in Baramati Agricultural Produce Market Committee. This year, mangoes have been exported to 31 countries, including the United States, Israel and Canada. It includes Himayat and Baganpalli varieties of mangoes from Andhra Pradesh and five mangoes from Maharashtra namely Keshar, Alfredo/Hapus and Mankur. Farmers with an area of more than five acres can export mangoes from their farms.
