Petrol Price Reduced By Rs 9.5 and Diesel by Rs 7 as Centre Reduces Excise Duty; Rs 200 Subsidy On LPG Cylinder Announced

New Delhi, 21st May, 2022: The Central Government on Saturday reduced the excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 8 and Rs 6 respectively, giving a big relief to the general public. This decision makes the price of petrol cheaper by Rs 9.5 per litre and that of diesel by Rs seven.

 

The central government also announced a subsidy of Rs 200 per gas cylinder (up to 12 cylinders) to more than nine crore beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that it was to help our mothers and sisters.

 

While India was seeing its highest oil prices ever, the costliest petrol in the country was Rs 123.46 per litre in Parbhani in Maharashtra, while diesel at Rs 107.61 per litre in Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh. At the same time, the cheapest petrol in Port Blair was Rs 91.45 per litre and diesel was Rs 85.83 per litre.

Petrol Rs 119.96

Power Rs 124.46

Diesel Rs 102.67

CNG Rs 80.00

 

Today, the price of petrol in the national capital Delhi is Rs 105.41 per litre and that of diesel is Rs 96.67 per litre. Petrol price in Mumbai is Rs 120.51 a litre and diesel at Rs 104.77 per litre in Mumbai. However, now after the reduction in excise duty, the prices of petrol and diesel will be reduced across the country.
