Pune: Man’s Body Found Floating in Mutha River Near Bhide Bridge; Probe On
Pune, 31st July 2026: A man’s body was found floating in the Mutha river near Bhide Bridge in Deccan area on Friday morning, triggering concern in the locality.
According to police, the Deccan police station received a call at around 8 am informing them that a body was lying in the river near Bhide Bridge. Acting on the information, a police team, along with personnel from the fire brigade, rushed to the spot.
With the help of the fire brigade, the body was retrieved from the river. Police said the deceased is a man, and efforts are currently underway to establish his identity.
The exact cause of death is yet to be determined. Police are investigating whether the man died due to drowning or if there is any foul play involved. Officials said no conclusion has been reached on whether the death was accidental, a case of suicide, or the result of any other circumstances.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and the report is expected to help determine the cause of death.
Meanwhile, the Deccan police have launched an investigation by examining CCTV footage from the area, collecting information from local residents, and analysing other technical evidence. Records of missing persons are also being verified as part of the probe.
