Pune: Maritime Research Centre, Indo Swiss Centre of Excellence ink pact for Skilling Centre

Pune, 15th October 2022: Considering the growing importance of the Underwater Domain in the current global circumstances, city-based Maritime Research Centre has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Indo-Swiss Centre of Excellence (ICSE) to set up a skilling Centre, which will create human resources for the future.

 

The pact was signed at the Maratha Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) on Friday, October 14 in presence of MP Vandana Chavan, Chief Functionary, ICSE Mukesh Malhotra, Chairman Shekatkar Committee Lt Gen (Retd) D B Shekaktkar, former DG Strategic Submarine Program Admiral (Retd) DSP Varma, MCCIA President Deepak Karandikar, MD Dynamic Logistics Praful Talera and MRC Founder-Director Dr (Cdr) Arnab Das.

 

Highlighting the importance of the underwater domain, Lt Gen (Retd) Shekatkar emphasized the need to skill people in the area. He also said that how it was important to train people with regard to technology as technological import had increased in the entire world. Considering this need, it is a very good thing that the Centre is coming up, the former Army officer said.
Chavan assured her support to the Centre and so did Karandikar, who said that the MCCIA will support the initiative.

 

Das said along with courses field work will be a key element of the Centre and it will build human resources for the future with abilities to solve problems of the new global order.
“Hands on and state-of-the-art innovation will be the key focus of the new initiative. The signing of the MoU has marked the beginning of a new concept of skilling in the country and in the region. The Centre will not only skill the new entrants into the requirements of the new job opportunity, but also provide continuous upgrades to the already deployed professionals,” added Das.

 

Mukesh Malhotra said, Indo-Swiss Centre of Excellence, was already functioning in two areas – agriculture and manufacturing technology and now was entering the third area of Underwater Domain Awareness.
