Pune, May 29, 2020: The vegetable and fruit market in Gultekdi area of the city has been closed since last month due to lockdown. The decision to close it was taken as most of the workers working in Market Yard live in the red zone area. But now the market committee has decided to resume trading in the Market Yard by making it available to the farmers. This will make the vegetables available to the consumers at reasonable prices.

Tempo, trucks carrying vegetables, fruits will start arriving in Market Yard from Saturday (May 30) night. The market will then start at 5 am on Sunday (May 31). To avoid congestion, 50 per cent of the commission agents (Adte) will work on one day and 50 per cent on the next day. They have to maintain physical distance to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

Currently, all market areas are being disinfected. Sanitizers will be arranged at the entrance on the day the market starts. The temperature of everyone entering the market will be recorded by Thermal gun and a limited number of people will be allowed entry at a time.
