Pune: MCOCA Accused Arrested Again for Dealing Ganja After Jail Release

Phursungi, 6th August 2025: A historysheeter on record has been arrested with 26 kg of marijuana (ganja), worth Rs 5.26 lakh. He had previously been jailed under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) of 1999, but resumed criminal activities after his release.

The accused, Anil alias Anna Subhash Rakh (46, resident of Hadapsar), was caught and a case has been registered at the Phursungi Police Station. The Anti Narcotics Cell took the action.

According to police, MCOCA was invoked against Rakh in 2014 for murder, and he was convicted and sent to jail. He was released about eight months ago. Police say that after leaving prison, he began dealing drugs again. While patrolling in the Phursungi area, the Anti Narcotics Cell noticed Rakh in a car and decided to investigate. They found him with a large quantity of ganja.

The police seized 26 kg of ganja, the car used in the crime, and several mobile phones from Rakh, with a total value of Rs 21.16 lakh. Further investigation is underway to find the source of the ganja and identify Rakh’s possible customers.
