Sangvi, 26th March 2024: MLA Ashwini Laxman Jagtap has sternly reprimanded a doctor at Aundh District Hospital following an error by a nurse that led to two patients requiring intensive care. The patients’ conditions deteriorated due to the nurse’s mistake. Upon learning of the incident, MLA Jagtap promptly visited the hospital and demanded strict action against the negligent nurses and doctors.

The recent incident involved two patients whose conditions worsened due to a transfusion error. Despite one patient being ‘A’ positive and the other ‘B’ positive, a mix-up occurred during blood transfusions as the nurse was ‘busy’ on the phone. Consequently, ‘A’ blood was transfused to the ‘B’ patient and vice versa, exacerbating their conditions.

Both patients required immediate admission to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for treatment. Upon being informed, MLA Jagtap personally visited the hospital to assess the situation. She confronted the doctor in front of the patient’s relatives, demanding accountability for the negligence. MLA Jagtap urged the administration of Aundh District Hospital to take stringent measures against the responsible nurse, emphasizing the gravity of playing with patients’ lives.
