Moshi, 7th January 2023: On Thursday (January 5), the Moshi toll plaza on the Pune-Nashik highway, which had been closed, was reopened.

As a result, to obtain a monthly pass, residents will have to pay Rs 315 at this toll booth. The amount imposed on heavy vehicles is between 15 to 155 rupees, whereas there are no fees for light vehicles.

The reopening of this toll road will result in financial hardship for motorists and it will lead to traffic jams. As a result, the NCP, Congress, and Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray have issued a warning about an intense agitation against the same.

Due to the expiration of the deadline, the Moshi road tax collection toll booth near the Indrayani river bridge in Moshi was closed a few months ago. The National Highways Authority of India has restarted it. On January 5, the authority issued a notice regarding the new road tax that will be applied to Moshi and Chandoli toll roads.

However, this time, the locals will have to buy a monthly pass of Rs 315 for their private vehicles with a discount of 20 kilometres. On the Pune-Nashik highway, traffic is already a problem for motorists. Amidst this, citizens having to pay extra has led to commuters expressing their anger.

Due to the queues at the toll booths, it takes half an hour to a quarter of an hour to reach Chakan, which is only six to seven kilometres from Moshi, or Bhosari, Nashik Phata, which is four kilometres away. Due to the non-widening of the road, citizens have had to suffer due to traffic congestion for many years. For some time, traffic was smooth as the toll gate was closed.

However, the citizens will have to deal with traffic jams and financial difficulties now that toll collection has started again. As a result, the drivers demand that this toll should be closed permanently.
