Pune, 12th December 2023: During the night in Pune city, two fire incidents occurred, both striking around midnight. The initial blaze ignited in Kondhwa Budruk, followed by a second incident in Baner. The fire brigade promptly and effectively managed both situations, ensuring the safety of all residents.
The first fire incident was reported in Kondhwa Budruk. The fire originated from an Air Conditioner of a Godown located at Excellent Parking in Survey No. 14. Dry garbage outside the godown is believed to have fueled the fire. The incident occurred around midnight on December 11.
The Central Fire Station received the report, and one fire vehicle was dispatched to handle the situation. The swift response and efficient firefighting efforts led to the containment of the fire with no significant damage reported.
Fire Officer Sameer Shaikh provided information that the cause of the fire was attributed to the dry garbage around the godown. The situation is now under control, and authorities are assessing the aftermath.
Another incident unfolded as a fire erupted at a cloud kitchen located on the second floor of the Maratha Samrat Hotel in Modi Square, Laxman Nagar, Baner. The incident took place around 12:30 AM, prompting an emergency call to the fire brigade at approximately 12:40 AM. Swiftly responding to the situation, the fire brigade dispatched two vehicles—one from Pashan Fire Station and another from Aundh Fire Station.
The fire brigade, led by Kamlesh Sangale, Station Duty Officer of Aundh Fire Station, arrived at the scene within minutes. The firefighters faced an intense blaze in the cloud kitchen. Cloud kitchens operate exclusively for food delivery and takeout services, with no provision for dine-in customers.
During the rescue operation, it was discovered that a man was trapped on the second floor of the burning establishment. The victim, suspected to have been asleep when the fire erupted, found himself in a perilous situation. However, the efficient and coordinated efforts of the fire brigade personnel ensured a successful rescue operation, saving the individual from harm.
Fire Officer Sangale, while speaking to Punekar News, stated, “The cause of the fire cannot be definitively determined at this point, but we suspect that it may have been a short circuit. The investigation is ongoing to ascertain the exact cause. The trapped individual was fortunate to have been rescued in time, and he was actively attempting to escape on his own.”
