Pune, 7th July 2023: Pune City Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr has taken the 24th action against a notorious criminal under the strict MPDA (Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities) Act.

The goon Arbaz alias Baban Iqbal Shaikh will be detained in jail for one year. The 24-year-old accused, residing at 386 Bhawani Peth, Opposite Chudaman Talim, Pune, has been involved in various criminal activities within the Khadak Police Station area, and his criminal record is well-documented. Alongside his accomplices, he has committed serious crimes such as attempted murder, extortion, theft, burglary (both during the day and at night), molestation, assault, rioting, and illegal possession of weapons. In the past five years alone, he has been involved in 11 registered cases.

According to police, the presence of this criminal has disrupted public order in the area, instilling fear among the citizens who refrained from openly complaining against him due to concerns over their personal safety and property.

After careful evaluation of the proposal and supporting documents, Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr issued an order for the placement of Arbaz Shaikh under MPDA in Nagpur Central Jail for a period of one year.

The operation was carried out by Sunil Mane, Senior Police Inspector of Khadak Police Station, Pune, and Vaishali Chandgude, Senior Police Inspector of the PCB Crime Branch, Pune City.

The Commissioner of Police, Pune City, has consistently implemented a stringent preventive action policy against persistent criminals who induce terror. This marks the 24th enforcement action under the MPDA Act since the Commissioner assumed office.
