Pune, 3rd April 2026: Railway security agencies under Pune Division carried out multiple safety and enforcement drives during the financial year 2025–26, resulting in thousands of arrests, recovery of valuables, rescue of children, and expansion of CCTV surveillance across railway stations.

Under the Yatri Suraksha Operation, which focused on passenger-related crimes, 125 persons were arrested and recovery of valuables worth ₹33.18 lakh was made. The Mahila Suraksha Operation, aimed at ensuring women’s safety on railway premises and trains, resulted in 1,492 arrests and fines amounting to ₹5.80 lakh.

The SATARK Operation targeted illicit activities including smuggling of liquor, tobacco, gold, and cash. During the operation, 21 persons were arrested and valuables worth ₹51.28 lakh were recovered.

Action was also taken against unauthorised hawking and vending under the DUSRA Operation, during which 7,763 persons were arrested and fines totaling ₹68.44 lakh were collected.

Under the Nanhe Farishtey Operation, focused on rescuing children found in distress or unsafe situations at railway stations and trains, a total of 412 children were rescued, including 355 boys and 57 girls.

Through the Amanat Operation, which facilitates the return of luggage left behind by passengers, 260 items were successfully traced and handed back to their owners.

Under the Jeevan Raksha Initiative, railway staff and security personnel saved the lives of 12 passengers during emergency situations across the division.

Meanwhile, Pune Division also strengthened its surveillance infrastructure during the financial year. At Pune railway station, 160 high-resolution CCTV cameras were installed. Additionally, 382 CCTV cameras were installed at various stations across the Pune Division to enhance monitoring and passenger safety.

Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Priyanka Sharma said that passenger safety, women’s security, and prevention of illegal activities remain key priorities for the Railway Protection Force. She stated that special drives are conducted regularly against passenger-related crimes, unauthorised hawking, and smuggling activities, while dedicated teams are deployed for women’s safety and child rescue operations under various initiatives. She also stated that the installation of CCTV cameras across stations has significantly strengthened surveillance, monitoring, and response capabilities, helping improve overall security arrangements across Pune Division.
