Pune: Pahalgam Attack Victim’s Daughter Appointed PMC Officer, Family Gets Relief
Pune, 18th March 2026: In a move aimed at supporting families affected by terrorism, the Pune Municipal Corporation has appointed Asawari Jagdale, daughter of Santosh Jagdale who lost his life in the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, to an administrative position.
The civic body has issued her an appointment letter for a Class-II Administrative Officer post, providing a sense of financial security and stability to the bereaved family. Officials noted that Jagdale, who is academically qualified, had expressed her readiness to take up a role in public administration.
The appointment follows recent concerns raised by the family over delays in securing government employment. Taking note of the issue, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde intervened and instructed authorities to fast-track the process, leading to swift action on the proposal.
Although Jagdale had initially requested a higher-ranking position, officials clarified that the recruitment has been carried out strictly in accordance with existing rules and eligibility criteria. Authorities emphasized that while the case was handled with sensitivity, no norms were relaxed in the process.
She is expected to join her duties soon, with her induction seen as both a rehabilitative measure and an effort to extend institutional support to victims of terror-related incidents.
During the issuance of the appointment letter, Jagdale was also connected via phone with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who congratulated her and assured the family that procedural issues had been resolved promptly. Her mother expressed gratitude to the state leadership, stating that the family’s concerns had now been addressed, while Jagdale also conveyed her thanks during the interaction.
