Pune: Parents From PCMC Transferring Their Kids From Private Schools To Municipality Schools
PCMC, 6th May 2022: Parents in Pimpri-Chinchwad have begun transferring their children from private English-medium schools to semi-English, Marathi medium municipal schools, where children receive a free education.
In the new academic year, 504 children from private schools have been admitted to schools managed by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). The uncertainty and insecurity of employment chances induced by the pandemic are the most evident reasons for the parents’ shift in mentality. Other factors include high private school tuition and concerns about the child’s future.

From the start of the new academic year, all municipal schools will be connected to the internet. Under the smart city project, the city has created smart classrooms in 12 municipal schools. This infrastructure will be installed in the remaining schools soon. All municipal schools have already been equipped with an e-learning system.
“I have only one boy. I want to provide him with the best education possible so that he can have a good future. My spouse worked as a manager in an automobile dealership while I worked at a private firm’s front desk. From LKG to Class II, we enrolled our son in a CBSE board-affiliated school. During the lockdown, however, paying the fees proved problematic. We did not want our child’s schooling to suffer. As a result, we chose to enroll him in a public school. He is given everything for free. I have no regrets about sending him to the public school. At the very least, he will be able to complete his schooling,“ a parent said.
