Pune: Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Arrest Five in Hagawane Family JCB Fraud Case

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 6th June 2025: The Mahalunge MIDC Police have arrested three more individuals in connection with a fraud case involving the illegal seizure and handover of a JCB machine, despite the bank confirming that such action was unnecessary. This brings the total number of arrests in the case, which is also linked to the death of Vaishnavi Hagwane, to five, including Vaishnavi’s husband Shashank and his mother Lata.
The newly arrested accused have been identified as Yogesh Rajendra Raskar (25), Ganesh Ramesh Potle (30) and Vaibhav Mohan Pingale (27), all residents of the Talegaon Dhamdhere area. The arrests were made following a complaint filed by Prashant Yelwande on 29th May at the Mahalunge MIDC police station.
According to police, Yelwande had entered into a deal to purchase the machine, which was registered in Lata Hagwane’s name. He was paying Shashank Hagwane Rs 50,000 monthly towards the loan installment, but Shashank failed to pay the bank and instead, with the help of recovery agents, seized the machine from Yelwande. This resulted in a financial loss of Rs 11.7 lakh for Yelwande.
During the investigation, police found that the bank had not authorized any recovery agents to seize the machine. Despite this, Raskar, Potle, and Pingale illegally took possession of the machine from Yelwande’s driver and handed it over to Shashank. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Dr. Shivaji Pawar confirmed the arrests and stated that both Shashank and Lata Hagwane remain in police custody as the investigation continues.
