However, the information is being kept secret and the Estate and Management Department has been given partial information. Therefore, it is not possible to calculate which political office bearer owns which areas and how much the rent is pending. “Therefore, if incomplete and incorrect information is given, action will be taken,” said Additional Commissioner Ravindra Binwade.

There are more than 10,000 properties with the PMC. Some have been obtained from reservations while some have been built on municipal land. After the construction is done by the department, the ward office refuses to inform the head department. Land allotment rules were prepared in 2008 for renting out municipal property. In it, the ward offices have been given the authority to contract property of less than 1500 square feet. Therefore, their information is not available to the main account.

Many of the PMC buildings have been owned by the same organization for years, its electricity bill, maintenance and repairs are being done by the PMC itself, but no tax is being paid to the PMC. Although the contracts of many have expired, the use continues.

There are many such properties, most of which are owned by former corporators and MLAs.

The Estate and Management department had directed all the regional offices in the city to provide detailed information about the 1,500 square feet of public temples, leisure centres, study halls, libraries and gymnasiums. However, the ward offices gave inaccurate information while providing information on many places.

As a result, the expected statistics and information are not available. After it was observed that such information was given by the field offices, Additional Commissioner Binwade sent a letter to the Deputy Commissioner of the Zone and the Assistant Commissioner of the Ward Office.

When giving information about public temples, leisure centres, study halls, libraries, and gymnasiums; the name of the property, detailed address, date of property usage, type of property, name of the property given to a private organization or joint venture, and details of what kind of construction, etc.

It is mandatory to disclose the total floor of the property, whether the current use is ongoing, whether the tenant has been entered into, the duration of the tenant into the property, the annual rent, the rent received, and the arrears.

The order states that the information should be submitted by July 15, after which the concerned department will inspect the relevant property and if any discrepancy is found, action will be taken directly against the Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner.
