Pune, 24th March 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation has unveiled an ambitious roadmap for digital transformation in its 2026–27 budget, placing strong emphasis on technology-driven governance to improve efficiency, transparency, and citizen services in Pune.

The budget was presented during the general body meeting by Standing Committee Chairman Shrinath Bhimale, outlining multiple initiatives centred around artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure.

AI-Based Grievance Redressal System:
A major highlight is the proposed AI-powered grievance redressal dashboard. The system will automatically direct citizen complaints to the concerned departments, ensuring quicker resolution. To support this, two trained staff members will be deployed at each of the city’s 15 ward offices, with weekly performance reviews planned to monitor efficiency.

The civic body has also proposed upgrading the city’s convention centre with advanced facilities to attract national and international conferences, exhibitions, and business events, enhancing Pune’s global profile.

In a move to promote entrepreneurship, the budget includes plans to establish a startup incubation centre and an innovation hub. These initiatives aim to provide technical guidance, infrastructure, and support to emerging businesses, contributing to job creation and innovation.

The PMC plans to set up a modern data centre to improve the speed, security, and reliability of its digital services. A dedicated online portal, aligned with data protection norms, will also be developed to safeguard citizens’ personal information.

Capacity Building and Education Reforms:
To enhance internal capabilities, a technology training centre will be introduced to equip municipal staff with skills in AI and e-governance systems. In the education sector, digital upgrades will be implemented across 75 civic schools, including smart digital TVs, high-speed internet, and interactive learning tools.

All municipal IT systems will undergo comprehensive cybersecurity audits to strengthen data protection, encryption, and access control mechanisms.

With these initiatives, the civic administration aims to make public services more accessible, efficient, and secure, positioning Pune as a leading city in digital governance in the coming years.
