Pune: PMC Speeds Up Process To Fill Potholes, Launches Helpline To Report Potholes

Pune, 14th July 2022: The rains that have been continuing in Pune city for the past eight days took a toll on Thursday. After that, the municipal administration immediately came into action mode and the pits were repaired in 139 places during the day, the municipal administration informed.
Meanwhile, two more helpline numbers have been set up by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for pothole complaints in the city and the municipal administration has appealed to the citizens to contact these numbers.
It has been raining all over the city for the last eight days. As a result, many roads in the city have turned into rivers and many intersections, as well as main roads, have no drainage system.

Due to this, there are big potholes on the roads at many main intersections. On many roads, the work done before the monsoon has been damaged. Since these roads were under-constructed, after the works for the same water scheme and drainage channels in the city, the pits have not been repaired properly, as a result, the chambers have collapsed in many areas.
It has directly affected the traffic of the city and the number of accidents has also increased. However, due to continuous rain in the city, the Municipal Corporation could not carry out the repair work on these roads. However, as soon as the rain subsided on Thursday (July 14), the Municipal Corporation started working on the road from the morning itself.

As many as 234 potholes were found in the survey conducted by the administration on Friday and today itself 139 potholes have been repaired. The Road Department of the Municipal Corporation informed that the collapsed chamber has been lifted at 18 places and the accumulated water has been drained at 14 places.
Meanwhile, for the complaint of potholes in the city, citizens now can contact the number provided by the municipal corporation; 020-25501083 between 10.00 am to 6.00 pm. In addition, citizens can complain 24 hours a day on the number 9049271003. Therefore, the Road Department of the administration has appealed to the citizens to report on both these numbers.
