Schools In Pune City To Open From Tomorrow; Holidays For Schools In Pimpri Chinchwad, Rural Areas Till July 16

Pune, 14th July 2022: Schools in Pune city will resume on Friday after a decision was taken to close schools on Thursday (July 14) due to heavy rains. As per the decision taken by the District Collector, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has decided to give leave till July 16. Therefore, it became clear that schools in Pimpri Chinchwad and rural areas of the district will be closed, while schools in Pune city will start.

It has been raining heavily for the past few days in the city. Also, due to the heavy rain warning given by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation announced a holiday for all schools on Thursday. Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh declared a holiday for schools from July 14 to July 16, except for five talukas namely Indapur, Baramati, Daund, Shirur and Purandar.

Today, PCMC Commissioner Rajesh Patil issued an order to keep the schools closed till Saturday as per the Collector’s decision.

However, PMC Commissioner Vikram Kumar said that schools in the PMC limit will open on Friday.
