Mohammadwadi, 4th May 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced that it will soon initiate the process of providing new drinking water tap connections to properties in the area. The Lashkar Water Supply Department has issued an official circular to the chairpersons and secretaries of housing societies, detailing the application process and mandatory requirements.

According to the circular issued by the Deputy Engineer of the Lashkar Water Supply Department, housing societies must apply through a PMC-registered (licensed) plumber. The application process requires both online and offline submissions. Applicants must first upload the required documents along with the new connection application on the PMC portal (https://services.pmc.gov.in/). Subsequently, a physical copy of the application and documents must be submitted to the Lashkar Water Supply Centre located at 5-B, General Bhagat Marg, near Bishop High School in Pune Camp.

Mandatory Documents Required: The civic body has listed 10 mandatory documents for the new connection, which include:
A new application signed by the applicant and a licensed plumber.
Property ownership documents.
No Objection Certificate (NOC) or receipt from the Tax Assessment and Collection Department.
PMC-approved building plan.
Building Occupancy Certificate (Bhogavata Patra).
PMC-approved Licensed Plumber certificate.
Colony Line Water Development certificate.
Society NOC.
An undertaking/affidavit regarding the water supply.
A certificate from an Architect confirming that existing water tanks have no leakages (as per IS3370 standards) and that internal water networks have cleared hydraulic testing without leakages.

Strict Conditions on STP Usage: The PMC has laid down a strict environmental condition for the societies. It is mandatory for housing societies to keep their Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) operational. The treated water must be recycled and used for toilet flushing and gardening purposes. The circular clarifies that drinking water will be supplied based on overall availability, making water conservation efforts by societies crucial.
