Pune, 24th June 2021: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has violated the norms laid down by the Supreme Court of India to benefit the contractor. PMC bend the rules while constructing the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP).

Meanwhile, Congress corporator Arvind Shinde has filed a petition against it in the High Court and also has sent notices to the PMC commissioner and Project consultant. PMC not only bend the regulations but also made changes to stipulated standards.

According to the experts from the National Green Tribunal (NGT), while constructing the STP, SC has laid down norms regarding the release of Carbon emission. The BDO, CDO and TSS should not exceed 10 milligrams per litre. However, for this contractor, it was raised upto 20 m/l.

Tender issued before No objection certificate (NOC)

Shinde said, “All the rules and regulations were violated laid down by PMC and State Government were violated while issuing the tender process. Before obtaining the No Objection Certificate from the irrigation department, the tender process was implemented.”

He also alleged that no tender process can be completed if the plot is not demarcated for it. He said, “The consultation firm is related with a politician and thus despite being under the scanner, the tender process was carried out under its guidance”.
