Pune: Police To Help Women Reach Home Safely If Traveling Alone At Night

Pune, December 17, 2020: Pune Police have appealed women and girl students to dial helpline number 1091 if they are traveling alone during the night or if public or private transport is unavailable.
The reason to start this helpline number is that there have been cases of molestation or assault at night. Also, sometimes people get tricked into receiving a lift from an unknown person and later they get robbed.
On contacting 1091 for help, the Beat Marshal police from the nearby police station will drop you at home or to the safest place. Senior police inspectors of all the police stations have been instructed to arrange cab or auto-rickshaw, or if required police vehicle can be used to drop the person at home.
“Women working in a private or a government organisation and girl students should use the helpline number 1091”, appealed Pune City Police Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta.
