Pune: Preparations For Palkhi Ceremony In A Final Stage, Works To Be Completed By June 15
Pune, 7th June 2022: The district administration has made necessary arrangements for Shri Kshetra Dehu and Shri Kshetra Alandi Palkhi ceremonies and the work related to it is in the final stage. Palkhi base and other ancillary facilities are planned to be completed by June 15. District Collector Rajesh Deshmukh is monitoring the work.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is repairing side pavements at Mauje Uruli Devachi, repairing palanquins at Wadakinala palanquin resting place, repairing ditches at Loni Kalbhor, repairing service road at Undwadi Supe in Baramati taluka and repairing side paving of Daund to Nira road.
The Public Works Department (PWD) is repairing the bridge over the river Karha, leveling the road at Anthurne in Indapur taluka and the staying camp at Sansar. Saswad Municipality is expeditiously carrying out works related to palanquin base and resting place.
Bottom works of Jejuri Palkhi have been started. The Zilla Parishad and both the Municipal Corporations will provide facilities for women’s health.
All the Sub-Divisional Officers have been appointed as Coordinating Officers and Tehsildars as Deputy Coordinating Officers. A village wise monitoring committee has been set up at the place of palanquin stay.
Special arrangements are being made for water supply. For Ashadi Wari/procession, 37 wells and bore wells have been acquired and 70 tankers have been arranged. Special health care will be taken against the backdrop of the corona. 112 medical officers and 336 staff have been posted on the palanquin route for health services. Health facilities will be provided by 23 primary health centers, 87 mobile medical teams and 108 ambulances.
The Department of Transportation has planned a safety check of the vehicles used for the palanquin ceremony. Non-vegetarian hotels, fish markets and liquor shops on palanquin/Palkhi way will be closed. Food and beverages will be inspected by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
It has been planned to stop traffic on certain routes at the time of departure of the Palkhi. About 10% of the hospital beds on the palanquin route will be reserved during the Palkhi ceremony. A booklet has also been published for information on palanquin management.
