Pune: Purandar Airport Land Acquisition Notification Soon; Compensation Options Also To Be Determined

Pune, 31st August 2022: The land acquisition notification for the planned international airport at Purandar will be issued soon. Before that, the payment options to be given for land acquisition will be determined. The district administration clarified on Tuesday (August 31) that soon a decision will be taken in this regard.

 

The Maharashtra State Government has decided to replace the planned international airport in Purandar with the previous one and the state government has ordered start the further process in this regard. Therefore, the work of determining land acquisition and compensation options will now be undertaken.

 

Land in seven villages Pargaon, Khanwadi, Munjwadi, Ekhatpur, Kumbharvalan, Vanpuri and Udachi Wadi in Purandar taluka was earmarked for the airport. The Mahavikas Aghadi government had proposed a change in this space. However, the new seat was rejected by the Ministry of Defence.

Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis resigned from the Maha Vikas Aghadi government. After Eknath Shinde’s government came to power, it has been decided to do the airport project on the old site.

 

In a meeting held on Monday (August 30), in the presence of Chief Minister Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis, it was decided to construct the airport on the previously fixed site. Orders have also been given to initiate further proceedings.

 

Meanwhile, Purandar airport requires 2832 hectares of land in seven villages. All the processes have been completed with the permission of several departments like Defense, Indian Air Force, Forest etc. of the Central Government. The district administration informed on Tuesday that the process of land acquisition notification and determination of payment options will be started soon. Further action will be taken as per the order received from the state government.

 

After the collapse of the Mahavikas Aghadi government, former Purandar taluka MLA Vijay Shivtare started efforts to restore the airport project to its old place. Chief Minister Shinde also spoke about this in a public meeting at Saswad.

However, in reality, no progress has been made regarding the project. At the local administrative level, land surveying, an inspection of documents or related works have been stopped. Also, the work of paperwork related to land acquisition from Maharashtra Airport Development Company Limited (MADC) has been completely stopped. MADC also informed that this work will be started soon.
