Kalyani Nagar, 9th May 2024: In a bid to address the escalating issue of noise pollution plaguing the tranquil neighborhood of Kalyani Nagar in Pune, a crucial meeting convened between Team Swachh Kalyani Nagar (TSKN) and Dr Shashi Tharoor, Former Central Minister of the Government of India, on May 6.

TSKN, a collective of concerned citizens dedicated to upholding cleanliness, hygiene, and safety in the locality, voiced their concerns over the rising noise pollution levels stemming from various sources, including loud music from nearby establishments, ongoing construction activities, and traffic congestion. These disturbances have significantly disrupted the peace and well-being of residents, particularly during late hours of the night.

Members of TSKN emphasized the adverse effects of noise pollution on public health, citing instances of senior citizens experiencing palpitations and migraines, and children struggling to concentrate on their studies due to the constant disturbances. The once serene ambience of Kalyani Nagar now stands marred by stress and anxiety, necessitating urgent intervention.

During the meeting, Dr. Tharoor expressed profound empathy for the plight of Kalyani Nagar residents, recognizing the fundamental right of every citizen to reside in a peaceful environment. He pledged to take decisive actions to tackle the issue post-elections, emphasizing the importance of restoring tranquillity to the community.

Dr Tharoor assured the attendees of his intention to liaise with the Congress candidate for the constituency, advocating for stringent measures to combat any form of harassment faced by residents.
