Pune: Residents Warn of Property Investment Risks Amidst Porwal Road Traffic Crisis
Pune, 25th July 2023: In a recurrent predicament, Porwal Road witnessed a complete traffic blockage stretching over 1.5 kilometers this morning at 8:30 am, causing immense frustration for commuters. The gridlock has become an unfortunate daily routine, with citizens often forced to step in to manage the traffic due to the absence of traffic police.
The severe traffic congestion has taken a toll on the daily lives of the residents, as school buses regularly face delays, and people with general shift timings find themselves trapped in traffic both in the morning and evening.
Residents of Porwal Road, like Kunal More, have expressed their disappointment with the local traffic police department and municipal corporation for their apparent neglect of the area’s basic services.
Kunal More stressed the urgency of having at least one or two traffic police officers present during peak hours, from 8 to 10 am in the morning and 6 to 8 pm in the evening, to alleviate the traffic woes and ensure smoother flow.
Supratim Kundu voiced his frustration with the situation, criticizing builders around Porwal Road for taking advantage of the situation and expressing skepticism that any significant improvements will occur in the near future. His disappointment has led him to warn people against investing in properties in and around Porwal Road.

Alok Jain, a resident of Lohegaon, another area affected by traffic and infrastructural issues, called for strong leadership that can address the pressing problems faced by the region. He emphasized the urgent need for improved road infrastructure, water supply, waste management, drainage systems, and healthcare facilities. Despite the area contributing substantial property tax revenue amounting to 125 Cr annually, Jain questioned the lack of action from local politicians and the Pune Municipal Corporation.
Lohegaon is worst area in Pune and we need strong leadership who knows how to get the work done for the area which is paying 125 Cr + property tax yearly. We have no road, no water, no garbage system, no drainage, zero healthcare and why neta log not asking pmc?
