Pune: Series Of Accidents Continue On Katraj-Kondhwa Road, 70-Year-Old Woman Killed On Sunday
Pune 14th August 2023: The series of accidents on Katraj-Kondhwa road continues as another person has lost life in a tragic accident reported on Sunday. A 70-year-old woman was killed after she was hit by a truck near Maulinagar Chowk. The deceased identified as Prabhavati Pandurang Anbhule died in the accident while crossing the road.
According to police, the woman sustained serious injuries in the accident and was rushed to the hospital but the doctors declared her dead. The driver of the truck involved in this accident was nabbed by police as he was trying to escape from the spot and a case has been registered at Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station under relevant sections.
It may be noted that a major accident was reported on the same road on August 10 in which one person had lost life while seven others were injured. Multiple vehicles including a school bus were damaged after a truck carrying cement pipe hit them. The locals have been demanding widening of the road for a long time which was stuck due to land acquisition problems.
According to reports, a total of 58 accidents have been reported on Katraj-Kondhwa Road in the last 5 years in which 28 people have lost their lives.
