Pune: Shankarrao Chavan Law College students participate in international exchange program in Sri Lanka

Pune, 17th March 2023: Shankarrao Chavan Law College students and professors are currently participating in an international exchange program at Colombo University in Sri Lanka.

The program, established under the International Student-Professor Exchange Agreement, allows the students to study and research Jurisprudence, Constitution, Contract Law, Interpretation of Laws, Judicial Practice, and Bar System in Sri Lanka. The students are conducting a comparative study of the justice system in Sri Lanka by visiting the High and Supreme Courts of Sri Lanka, National Human Rights Commission Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Bar Association, and Law Libraries.

The group is also hosting legal camps in some villages in Sri Lanka to provide assistance to those who need it. The professors are guiding students at law colleges in Sri Lanka on the same subjects, and are communicating with judges in Sri Lanka to gain a better understanding of the country’s legal system. The initiative is aimed at promoting cross-cultural learning and understanding of legal systems in different countries.

Bhausaheb Jadhav, Executive President of Marathwada Mitra Mandal, has commended the initiative, and Vice-Chancellor of Colombo University, Prof. HD Karunaratne has provided support and guidance for the program, informed Kranti Deshmukh, principal of Shankarrao Chavan Law College.
