Pimpri, 10th May 2024: Famous actor turned politician, Shirur MP Dr. Amol Kolhe, has made a significant revelation: he will not act in daily soaps or movies for the next 5 years.

Dr Kolhe, currently serving as MP and representing the Mahavikas Aghadi in Shirur, attributed this decision to criticisms he faced regarding insufficient visits to his constituency during his previous term. This announcement comes just two days before the Lok Sabha elections in Shirur, seemingly as an attempt to address and silence his critics.

Dr. Kolhe’s legacy as an actor remains unmatched, particularly for his portrayal of the great Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the 2008 series ‘Raja Shivchatrapati’ and as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in the 2017 series ‘Swarajyarakshak Sambhaji’. However, since becoming Shirur’s MP in 2019, allegations arose that his tight acting schedule prevented him from dedicating adequate time to his constituency. These criticisms became focal points for opposition campaigns in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, prompting Dr. Kolhe to make a significant decision.

Dr. Kolhe stated, “The field of politics demands full-time commitment, not part-time involvement. Significant funds, totalling 11,500 crores, have been allocated for projects like the Chakan-Shikrapur Highway and Pune-Ahmednagar Highway. Additionally, initiatives such as the 500-bed hospital and the National Forest Medicinal Research Center are part of our vision. Such projects require unwavering dedication. Therefore, it’s not feasible for me to balance both acting and politics. As a result, I am bidding farewell to my career in the entertainment industry for the next five years. While this decision may disappoint my fans, it is made in the best interest of the people of the Shirur Lok Sabha constituency. The only exception will be to continue conveying the thoughts of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to the people.”

“Keep a ‘Close Eye’ on These Banks”

Against the backdrop of the upcoming voting on May 13th in Shirur, Dr Kolhe has penned a letter to the Election Returning Officer of the Shirur Lok Sabha constituency, urging vigilance over certain banks within the constituency. The catalyst for this action stems from recent events in the Pune district, particularly the elections held in the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency on 7th May. Allegations surfaced implicating NCP (Ajit Pawar) in voter bribery within the constituency, allegedly facilitated through the Pune District Central Co-Operative Bank Ltd.

In light of these allegations, Dr Kolhe has called upon the Election Commission of India (ECI) to closely monitor the activities of the Pune District Central Co-Operative Bank Ltd, purportedly influenced by Ajit Pawar, as well as the Shree Bhairavnath Nagari Sahakari Patsanstha, where opposition candidate of NCP (AP) Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil reportedly holds sway. Dr Kolhe has emphasized the need for enhanced police security in these areas to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
