Pune: Talegaon-Uruli Line DPR Gets Final Clearance Stage, Cost Pegged at Rs 8,525 Crore

Pune, 8th October 2025: The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Talegaon–Uruli third and fourth railway lines has reached the final vetting stage under Central Railway headquarters finance, marking a key milestone in the 90-km Pune Bypass Line project sanctioned on February 8, 2024.
According to project documents, the alignment for the line connecting Talegaon, Uruli, and Saswad was approved on July 19, 2024, following completion of drone-based LiDAR and traffic surveys. The DPR was sent to the Railway Board on June 12, 2025, with subsequent Project Evaluation Committee (PEC) reviews held through July, August, and September 2025. The committee accepted the DPR on August 12, 2025.
The project, designed for a speed of 160 kmph, involves 78.14 km of route length, acquisition of 602.08 hectares of land, and construction of six tunnels, 17 major bridges, 121 minor bridges, and six road overbridges. The total cost is estimated at ₹8,525.67 crore, including civil works worth ₹7,868 crore, signaling and telecommunication at ₹288 crore, and electrical works at ₹368 crore.
The Financial and Economic Internal Rate of Return (FIRR/EIRR) has been projected at 10.32% and 20.84% respectively, with an anticipated completion period of five years.
