The hackathon is being jointly organised by the District Administration Pune, the Department of Agriculture (Government of Maharashtra), and leading agricultural institutions. The event will take place from May 15 to 17, 2026, at the College of Agriculture, Pune.

The initiative is being convened by Jitendra Dudi (IAS), District Collector of Pune, who said the hackathon is a significant step towards integrating technology with agriculture to empower farmers, improve productivity, and strengthen food security.

The Agri Hackathon 2026 aims to bring together innovators, startups, researchers, students, and progressive farmers from across India and abroad to develop scalable solutions to real-world agricultural challenges.

Participants will compete across several key themes, including soil health and management, smart water management and automation, farm mechanisation using AI and robotics, agri-processing and value chain development, renewable energy and agro-waste management, crop protection and pest management, climate-resilient and digital agriculture, AI and technology-based interventions for effective agriculture administration, and technology-driven tools for disaster management, crop loss assessment, and prediction.

With a strong focus on collaboration, the hackathon will serve as a platform for industry, government, and academia to work together to develop innovative, affordable, and scalable solutions for the future of agriculture.

The event will feature a competitive format with a top prize of ₹25 lakh and ₹15 lakh for the runner-up, along with opportunities for incubation and funding support.
