Sindhi Premier League Season 7 to begin from April 10
Pune, 17 March 2026: The seventh edition of the Sindhi Premier League (SPL) cricket tournament will be held from April 10 to May 3, 2026, at Mrunal Cricket Ground in Pimpri. A total of 16 men’s teams and seven women’s teams will participate this season, organizers Naresh Nasha and Bipin Dakhneja said at a press conference.
The matches will be live-streamed on the league’s official Facebook page. The announcement was made at a press meet held at Blue Water Hotel in Ravet, in the presence of Industrialist Dabbu Aswani and Shrichand Aswani, along with organizing committee members Ronak Punjabi, Avinash Israni, Ankush Mulchandani, Karan Aswani, Avi Tejwani, Somesh Gidwani, Kunal Gudela, Manish Gereja, Yash Thadani, Kanwal Khiyani, Gulshan Gangwani, Kamesh Pamnani, Pawan Kotwani and Mayur Tilwani. Team owners and sponsors were also present.
Dabbu Aswani said the league, organized by youngsters from the Sindhi community, has now evolved into a social festival. “It promotes fitness, a healthy lifestyle and encourages youth to take up outdoor sports instead of being confined to mobile phones and the internet. Funds raised through the tournament are utilized for social causes. This year, the league will sponsor the full education of a girl student from Sadhu Vaswani Mission,” he said.
Shrichand Aswani said the opening ceremony of SPL Season 7 will be held on April 10 at 6 pm and will be attended by former cricketers, prominent members of the Sindhi community, players, team owners and their families. “The tournament has received an overwhelming response over the past seven seasons, with participation from across Pune and other parts of the state. Women’s participation is also being actively encouraged, with seven teams competing this year,” he added.
Bipin Dakhneja said the tournament is structured on the lines of the IPL, with 16 men’s team owners and seven women’s team owners fielding a total of 23 teams. “Team names in the men’s category are inspired by Sindhi culture, while women’s teams are named after rivers. A total of 256 male and 98 female players have registered for the tournament,” he said.

56-year-old player to feature
Adding a unique highlight to the tournament, 56-year-old Hiranand alias Dabbu Aswani will take the field for Sultan of Sindh, while the youngest player in the league is 15-year-old Rishabh Wadhwani. Aswani, who has had a successful career in volleyball, cricket and politics, said that staying active in sports has contributed to both his fitness and professional success.
