Camp, August 30, 2020: As the Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) has not yet permitted the reopening of marketplaces due to the prevailing Coronavirus situation, the traders from Fashion Street, Kumbhar Bawdi areas in Camp have expressed their discontent, alleging that the marketplaces are not being opened for the sake of political interests. The traders have demanded that they should now be given the permission to open their shops.

While the main markets in the Cantonment areas have been shut due to COVID-19 lockdown for a few months, in June, a few shops as well as Shivaji Market were opened with several conditions. However, no decision has been made for Fashion Street and Kumbhar Bawdi yet, which is leading to continued losses for over 1,800 traders here.

Meanwhile, some senior Board officials have hinted that there is a possibility that these marketplaces might be allowed to reopen in the month of September, and that meetings and discussions are currently underway in this regard.
