Pune: Two Persons Arrested In Konark Express Robbery Case

Daund, 9th November 2021: Two accused in the Daund-Mumbai-Bhubaneswar Konark Express robbery case were arrested by the Daund Railway Police Station on Tuesday.

 

Assistant Police Inspector Yuvraj Kalkutge said that the train was stopped on the night of October 26 near the Nanvij railway crossing on the Pune-Daund railway line by breaking the railway signal wires. The robbers had looted jewellery worth Rs 1.55 lakh from two female passengers, Meenakshi Shivputra Gaikwad (25, resident of Ramwadi, Solapur) and Kalpana Vinayak Shriram (59, resident of Walchand College, Solapur).

 

Rakesh Gaikwad (resident of Solapur), who got out of the coach to catch the robbers, was assaulted by the robbers.

 

Kunjir Ahirya Pawar (19, resident of Khadki, Tal. Daund) and Deepak Chandrakant Mungale (30, resident of Bhagatwadi, Tal. Karmala, Dist. Solapur) were arrested from Khadki by Daund Railway Police in this case.

 

Weapons used in the crime have been seized from the accused. The search for other accused in the case is on, said API Kalkutge.

 

The action was taken under the guidance of the Superintendent of Police (GRP, Pune) Sadanand Waise Patil.

 

The team included Sub Inspector Tarachand Sudge, police personnel Sunil Kadam, Dhananjay Veer, Manoj Salve, Ajit Sawant, Sarfaraz Khan, Santosh Pawar, Ramesh Pawar, Bansode, Priyanka Kharat, Vanita Saminder, Eknath Lavand.
