Pune,21st October 2021: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has warned to take possession of the students’ rooms who have completed their degree, and have not left the hostel yet. The university administration has notified the students as they are ignoring them despite repeated instructions.

The dormitories at the university have been completely closed for the past year and a half due to the covid-19. The university had earlier appealed to students to carry their belongings from their rooms and effectively empty their rooms.

Even though many students have already taken their belongings and left the rooms, some students have not yet returned to the university. This has raised a question about the condition of such rooms which have been locked for the past one and a half years. Are the belongings of the students safe and organized? Rats and other infestations may have caused havoc inside these rooms as well, where the administration has no idea.

Regular classes will start as the Maharashtra state government has given permission to start the college. Hostels must be available for new students who will arrive at the university. Therefore, the university administration has appealed through a circular to take the luggage and vacate the rooms.

If the students do not remove the luggage and return the room key, the administration will take possession of the room on its own and the materials in the room will be collected, informed the circular.
